Weight gain is one of the fastest ways to get metabolic syndrome – As you get overweight and obese, your triglycerides go up and you get insulin resistance.
There appears to be some (mysterious) receptor driven phenomenon for certain drugs that as soon as you give them – BANG – within days, up goes the triglycerides.
There is a drug-induced insulin resistance independent of weight gain.
