Dr. Raguraman Janakiraman (Ragu) is a general adult psychiatrist having trained in psychiatry in the UK, India and Australia. He is a Fellow of the Indian College of Psychiatrists and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. He has also obtained post fellowship advanced certification in adult psychiatry from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. His additional qualifications include diploma in industrial psychology and Hygiene and diploma in psychological medicine. He has more than 15 years of experience in managing a variety of psychiatric conditions.
He is also a faculty member of the Psychiatry Department of The University of Queensland and pain fellow, ANZCA. He is an expert in performing psychosociobiomedical assessment of patients with complex needs. He contributes to the development of new knowledge and it’s dissemination through audit, research and has published in both national and international journals. He advocates evidence- based pain management on behalf of patients. He promotes strategies for health improvement and self-management strategies in treating chronic pain patients. He uses therapy techniques based on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT).
