Dr. Khaldoon (Khal) AlSaee is a Psychiatrist & Specialist Pain Medicine Physician. His special interests include Substance Use Disorders, Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Psychotic Disorders & Chronic Pain.
Dr. AlSaee completed his medical degree at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland. He moved to Townsville in 2009 & completed his Psychiatry training at the Townsville Hospital & Health Service, becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. He subspecialises in Addiction Psychiatry. Additionally, he completed training in Pain Medicine through the North Queensland Persistent Pain Management Service & became a Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine; Australian & New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.
Dr. AlSaee is a Director & Specialist at the LiveWell Health Care Group, Townsville’s only private multidisciplinary acute injury & chronic pain service, which is collocated at the Townsville Private Clinic. He also works part-time at the Alcohol, Tobacco & Other Drugs Service (ATODS) & with the North Queensland Persistent Pain Management Service (NQPPMS). He is involved in teaching, supervision & training of medical students, trainee specialists (in both Psychiatry & Pain Medicine), & other health professionals.
Throughout his career, Dr. AlSaee has had to adapt to diverse cultures and systems, and as such, takes pride in bringing a broad-minded and inclusive approach to his practice. He is a proud father and husband and credits his family with keeping both his feet firmly planted on the ground. When he shifts his focus from the work arena, you can find him madly supporting the Cowboys, cheering court-side at big-screen tennis matches, and even doing his part for the environment cleaning-up at local beach fronts.
