Prof Jayashri Kulkarni is Professor of Psychiatry at The Alfred and Monash University in 2002. She directs a large psychiatric research group, the Monash Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre (MAPrc), which has a team of over 100 staff and post-graduate students from medicine, nursing, psychology, allied health, science, and health information services. She is internationally recognised for her expertise in the treatment of mental illness, particularly in women’s mental health. She has pioneered the use of estrogen as a treatment in schizophrenia and has developed many other innovative treatments for mental illness. She is on the editorial and advisory board of the Psych Scene Hub.
