Dr Vinay Lakra is the Deputy Chief Psychiatrist of Victoria and Clinical Director of the North West Area Mental Health Service, North Western Mental Health. He is also an Elected Director on the Board of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). He has held a range of positions as a Consultant Psychiatrist in acute inpatient and community settings and continues to be involved in clinical practice including Electro Convulsive Therapy.

Dr Lakra’s interest and expertise also include leadership and management, clinical governance systems; and patient safety and quality. He remains actively engaged in supervision and mentoring of junior doctors and early career psychiatrists. He is also a surveyor for the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS).
